DHS Data Breach

The leak website Distributed Denial of Secrets stated on Wednesday that it had released data of over forty thousand Department of Homeland Security employees. The data also has details about officials operating in sensitive areas such as surveillance and human intelligence. The personal as well as work data was reported to be stolen from an Okta single sign-on system earlier in 2026.

A DHS spokesperson stated “DHS is aware of a potential breach and is actively working to address the situation swiftly and effectively. We take all security threats against our employees and officers seriously and will work to ensure all are properly protected. We will update the public when more information is available.”

The leaked data includes names, work email addresses and phone numbers, job titles, and office locations, as well as records showing which systems and internal applications each account can access. Also present in the data were job titles and email groups, which, among other things, showed which agents were assigned to special operations, surveillance jobs, computer forensics and undercover work. Note that the database is searchable.

The cyberattacker with the handle Department of Peace, has written in a note. “They have our information, so it’s only fair that we have theirs.” A majority of the leaked records reportedly have information on US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) employees. For your knowledge around 1,000 CISA employees, along with personnel at several other DHS agencies, also had their information leaked.
