Database Exposing Old Credentials
Share

A database belonging to an Indian AI software development organization displayed 13.7 million breached credentials without any password protection. The records included names, phone numbers, email addresses, plaintext passwords, and bank account details belonging to people in different nations. The relevant database had no password protection or encryption.
The data was not stolen in a new attack. The platform collected credential datasets from past breaches and leaks and made them publicly available. Cybersecurity researcher Jeremiah Fowler discovered the database.
Fowler identified the company as Vibetech. As per its website, Vibetech operated AI-powered platform that helps users develop their artificial intelligence skills via tools, prompts, and personalized matching. Fowler stated “I immediately sent a responsible disclosure notice to the company connected to the IP address. I also notified the hosting provider, after which the database was restricted and no longer publicly accessible.”
The exposed credentials can be misused for fraud as well as identity theft. To stay safe, have different and strong passwords for each of your accounts. Do this at the earliest without delay. Use multi-factor authentication. Be alert to suspicious emails. They may be part of a phishing campaign.
