Cyberattack on Arizona’s Court System
Share
A cyberattack on Arizona’s court system stole details of over a million individuals. It is believed to have been triggered when a court employee clicked a malicious link in an email. As per the Arizona Supreme Court the data was copied for 1.3 million persons with unpaid court fees, fines and restitution transactions for traffic as well as criminal violations dating back as far as 3 decades.
The court’s technology personnel shut down the attack on a backup server about 2 hours after spotting it on September 24th. Since then, the court has informed those affected by the data breach.
On Tuesday, state Supreme Court spokesperson Alberto Rodriguez stated “We don’t have any evidence it has been used or shared” after the attack. According to Rodriguez, the cyberattack, which is under investigation, hasn’t affected or delayed any court case. No records were altered or deleted, and the attackers didn’t steal data regarding jurors, witnesses or court employees.
