Ahold Delhaize is a multinational retailer having over 384,000 employees. It has 9,551 stores catering to 77 million customers each week across the US, Europe and Indonesia.
The company has restored certain services affected by last week’s cyberattack. It expects more to be online within days. On October 12, 2026 the organization took its systems offline because of a security issue. This action affected its online operations such as orders and deliveries in the US and Europe. Several of its European sites and applications have been restored. E-commerce operations at the company’s US brands are expected to back online within days. However Ahold has not given a precise timeframe.
Ahold Delhaize president and CEO Frans Muller stated “Taking systems offline to help protect them was a precautionary measure that affected most of our brands across Europe and the United States. Although this incident was caused by the malicious actions of others, we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused – especially to our customers.”
Note that the company has not shared details on the nature of the cyberattack. However, it stated there was no evidence that any customer, associate and partner information was compromised in the cyberincident.
